Jesi

It lies in the heart of the verdant hills and along the Esino River of the Marche region. This city is covered with vineyards that are famous worldwide due to the production of a much-acclaimed white vintage, Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.
Jesi has long and important industrial traditions and that is why they started calling this city ‘Milan of Le Marche’ since the late 19th century. The splendid and stunning Roman walls surround the elegant and characteristic historic center composed of small squares, intertwining alleys and stairways, stately buildings and churches, and the town’s historic theatre: the Pergolesi Theatre.

This town proudly retains traces of its Roman past and UNESCO designated it as an ‘exemplary city’ for the persistence of the Roman castrum in the contemporary urban fabric. Make sure you visit the rich Pinacoteca (art gallery), the Cathedral and the many palaces around. Another spot to not miss is the characteristic Via degli Orefici (via Pergolesi), so called because of a large number of goldsmiths’ shops. Get more information at www.turismojesi.it
